QUIZZ BIOGRAPHY
So today, the man that I’m going to introduce is very famous! But …errr, this is not going to be easy because you’ll have to find his name by yourself! I love riddle, you know!
Ready? Hope you’ll find who he is!
This man is Scottish, he was born on 25th January 1759 and died on 21st July 1796.
He is also known as “SCOTLAND’S FAVOURITE SON”. He is a poet, and influenced the founders of both liberalism and socialism! Oh, you still don’t know who he is? Don’t worry I’ll give you more clues.
As well as making original compositions, he revisited Scottish folk songs: “Auld Lang Syne” was a big success! It’s often sung at Hogmanay (the last day of the year). I’d like to add that “Scots Wha Hae” was for a long time as an unofficial national anthem for the country. Let me tell you that he was so popular that the Soviet Union honored him by creating a commemorative stamp.
To put it in a nutshell, his style is marked by spontaneity, directness and sincerity. He influenced many poets from Britain and Canada. A monument was erected in Dorchester square, in Montreal, to honour him.
So, have you found who he is?
Well, I’ll tell you then! ROBERT BURNS!
Hope that you’ve enjoyed the game and had fun!
