Do you want to know who the father of natural parks is?
Let's discover John Muir together then!
First, he was born on April, 21st in 1838 in Dunbar, East Lothian in Scotland. He was one of the first modern naturalists but he was a writer and an engineer, too. It's amazing, isn't it?
He entered Wisconsin-Madison University in 1860.
He devoted his life to the protection of nature and created the National Parks in 1890.
Do you want books written by him?
Many were published in New York!
John was influenced by Ralph Waldo Emerson. I know you don't know who he is.
He was an American essayist, lecturer, poet and the leader of the Transcendentalist movement.
He thought that people didn’t accept nature’s beauty because they were only concerned about worldly possessions.
John was lucky, because he met Ralph in Yosemite, in 1871.
Of course, John had a family.
He married Louisa Wanda whose parents were the owners of a big farm and orchards in Martinez, a small town in California in 1880. They had two daughters, Helen and Wanda.
He ran the farm and he died on December, 24th in 2005, in Los Angeles, in the USA.
