I’m going to tell you about a man who spent his life working.
James Clerk Maxwell was born on 13th June in 1831 in Scotland and died on 5th November in 1879 in Cambridge (England).
He was a mathematical physicist.
From his childhood, he displayed a natural curiosity, always asking how things worked and moved as they did.
When he was eight years old, he lost his mother, so his father had to care for his education alone.
Then, at the age of 14 he started writing scientific articles. Not my cup of tea at all!
At 16, he entered the University of Edinburgh where he attended classes on mathematics and natural philosophy, besides, he started teaching too.
He was a child prodigy.
I’d like to add he is amazing because even if his mum died he believed in his dreams and never gave up.
He greatly influenced modern physics as we know it.
Maxwell demonstrated that electric and magnetic fields travel through space as waves moving at the speed of light.
He also contributed to many projects. e.g. he conceptualized the theory of electromagnetic radiation and he made revolutionary discoveries about gas velocity.
He died of cancer at 48 years old.
