Flora MacDonald was born in 1722 in Scotland and she died on March 4th in 1790.

She's a Jacobite heroine (a Jacobite is a person who remained loyal to the king of Scotland, James II). She was the daughter of Ranald MacDonald and his wife, Marion.

Her story is very sad... Let me tell you!

Flora MacDonald was a young woman who met Prince Charlie - a pretender to the throne of England, Scotland and Ireland - when she was in Hebrides Isles in Scotland (usually when you're on holiday, you find some nice mosquitoes, not a prince...). It was the place where the prince had come after a terrible battle. She helped him run away because, of course, she had fallen in love with him.

He dressed up as Flora’s maid (sooo romantic) to avoid attracting people’s attention. After a long travel, the prince left her. As a consequence, the ship crew suspected Flora and took her to London where she was arrested. Authorities thought long and hard about whether or not to set her freebut in the end, she had her liberty. She ended her life in Skye.

It's a sad (and beautiful after all) love story and it's one of the most famous Scottish love stories. She sacrificed so much for him but he never came back. Why was he so frustrating?
