In 1849, Pinkerton became the first detective in Chicago.
In 1850, he created his first detective agency under the name Pinkerton.
They solved many train robberies. In 1861, they discovered a plot to assassinate Abraham Lincoln. And it was at President Lincoln’s request that Pinkerton worked for the secret service during the Civil War.
His motto was “We never sleep”.
In July 2003, Pinkerton was bought by Securitas AB to create Securitas Security Services USA, one of the largest security companies in the world.
